What is orthodontics?
The objective of contemporary orthodontics is a well-proportioned
face as well as an esthetic and stable dentition. The specialty
of orthodontics requires the professional skill in the application,
design and control of corrective appliances and braces to bring
teeth, lips and jaws into proper alignment and to achieve facial
balance.
Orthodontics is one of seven specialty areas of dentistry. Diagnosing,
preventing and treating of dental and facial irregularities are
part of orthodontics. Through specialty training, a doctor learns
the skills required to manage tooth movement and guide facial
development and thus practice orthodontics. |
